WA state will intervene in Yucca Mountain dispute
Washington state plans to intervene in President's Obama's decision to stop the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste project.
The US Energy Department had planned to send waste from Hanford to Yucca Mountain.
But those plans have been put on hold after the site's termination.
A federal court has also awarded $57 million in damages to Energy Northwest.
The company has spent that amount of money storing waste that was scheduled to go to Yucca Mountain.
