Car Recalls Worry Consumers

After the big Toyota recall sales dropped nine percent in February from a year ago. At the same time GM and Ford posted double digit gains. In the past few weeks recalls are coming out across the board and its starting to worry some consumers in the market for a new car.

One person we spoke with said she's researching cars more than ever before she decides to buy. Another said if the right deal came along she would pursue it.

Versa Kang said, "perhaps the Toyota thing was a wake up call for the other car industries to say, 'we better take a look at what's going on with ours."

Melody Brooke is skeptical as well, but doesn't rule out buying a new car all together. "The deal comes along, and the time is right and its a good vehicle, I'll probably go for it...but I do have certain set ideas of what I want as a consumer" Brooke said.

Lawmakers are continuing to question Toyota executives this week in Washington D.C. Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood says he will not rest until Toyota's vehicles are safe.
