WA House Passes Baby Bottle Ban

Members of the Washington House voted 96-1 to ban the chemical BPA from baby bottles. Studies have shown the chemical can be found in certain items containing plastic. When released, the chemical can affect mental development especially in children.

Washington is now the second state in the US to ban the chemical in sports bottles, and the fifth state to it in baby bottles.

The ban on baby bottles and plastic products intended for children under the age of three will take effect July 2011. The ban on sports bottles will begin July 2012.
