KNDA Radio Station Fires Executive Director

GRANGER -- A local radio station hopes to solve its problems by firing the station's executive director. KDNA is a spanish-speaking community station out of Granger. The station is known as the "voice of the farm workers."

The director, Maria Fernandez, held the position for a year and a half.

During that time multiple employees went on strike in protest of her management style. Some of those workers were fired and now want to come back.

A new interim executive director was announced today and the station is looking forward to the transition.

The Board Chair Irma Prieto said, "we are moving forward...and have a new outlook at improving our relationship with the community."

The chairman addressed rumors at the meeting that KDNA will not be moved to Heritage University during the transition. She said that is not true.

Friends of Fernandez say they will take action against her firing.
