Man Confirms Scam By Doing Research On Number
YAKIMA -- A Yakima man fights back against a huge phone scam aimed at getting your banking information.
Larry ausink and his wife received the bogus calls yesterday. An automated voice told them someone hijacked their accounts. It asked them to call another number to update the accounts.
Ausink decided to do some research. He got the number from caller ID and searched it on the internet. The number was from a company that wasn't their bank.
"The number that came in regarding my wife's account related to a medical complex in Indianapolis, Central City of Indianapolis, made no sense whatsoever," says Ausink.
Yakima police and Key Bank says it's hearing many complaints from people who received the same calls. Police say if you get such a call, just hang up.
