Pasco mayor to resign for love
Pasco Mayor Joyce Olson is resigning from her position to follow her heart.
Olson announced she'll be getting married to an old high school classmate who lives in Virginia.
The two were re-acquainted when they planned their 40 year high school reunion together last year.
Olson's last day in office is March 31st.
After that, she'll pack up and move to the East Coast.
Olson says she'll miss serving Pasco residents, but is looking forward to a new life adventure.
"You have to follow your heart. I wouldn't be leaving for any other reasons. When it comes to affairs of the heart, you know when it's right. And my heart strings are pulling me in a different direction which sadly takes me away from Pasco" said Olson.
Olson is the first female mayor of Pasco.
Mayor Pro Tem, Matt Watkins will take her place on April 1st.
