State Funds Wine Center
WSU Tri-Cities should be able to break ground on a new Wine Science Center, as the state promises millions of dollars in funding.
The budget agreement passed in Olympia yesterday includes 5 million dollars for the wine center. In addition, the Washington wine industry has pledged 7.5 million.
The chancellor of WSU Tri-Cities says the Wine Science Center will be a huge economic addition to the region, and a great resource for the state's wine industry.
The center will be built on George Washington Way near the university's vineyard. The university still needs to raise about 11 million dollars in private funds.
The chancellor hopes to break ground sometime in 2013.
