Murder Suicide In Yakima
Two people are dead after a murder suicide in Yakima this afternoon.
Police tell us that just before 2 pm, a man shoots and kills his mother in law before shooting himself outside a home on south 40th avenue.
Police say other family members were in the area, but the wife of the shooter and daughter of the mother in law showed up after the incident had occurred. .
Here's what police say that witnesses who were in the area at the time of the shooting are telling them.
"The female was shot at the doorway at a home that's kinda in the midst of the storage units here and it appears the male killed himself outside of the residence at this point," says Captain Greg Copeland.
Police say it is too early to define a motive in the murder suicide.
The Yakima County Coroner's Office identified the two victims as 53 year old Rita Contreras-Birrveta and 30 year old Angel Cardenas-Contreras.
Police say they lived in the same house together.
