Longer Runway for Pasco Airport

In a matter of years airline passengers could be flying to destinations like Hawaii and Mexico from the Tri-Cities airport in Pasco.

The Port of Pasco commissioners voted this week to buy land near the airport for future expansion of one of the runways.  Currently the largest planes flying in and out of pasco are 160-seat MD-80's.    The longer runway would allow much larger Boeing 757's to land and take off.

The 34-acres of land will cost the Port of Pasco about 1.2 million dollars.  The runways expansion is at least five or ten years away.
