12 Days of Giving blood drive continues in Richland
Dozens of people take time out of their busy schedules to save a life today, as the 12 Days of Giving blood drive continues in Richland.
A steady stream of community members filled the local chapter of the American Red Cross this afternoon.
Last year, donors gave 500 pints of blood during the event.
The Red Cross hopes to beat that number this year.
Everybody who makes an appointment to donate blood during the 12 Days of Giving will receive a free gift.
Volunteers say the entire process takes only about an hour.
"My faith in this community is renewed time and time again, being a part of the blood drives, knowing that they're just coming in to give, and it's not about the gifts, it's not about any of that. It's about them wanting to help someone else" said Beckie Patrick, American Red Cross.
One pint of blood can help save the lives of up to three people.
