Elementary Remembers Teacher
Hundreds of students and adults gather at Apple Valley Elementary School in Yakima to remember a teacher who passed away this week.
Most wore yellow shirts and ran laps around the school playground in honor of Apple Valley Elementary teacher, Barry James.
James -- a Livestrong Challenge Award recipient -- passed away on Tuesday after spending the last 7 years battling a rare type of vascular cancer.
James' wife says the family is touched and surprised by the amount of support displayed today.
"I was very touched and honored," said Sarah James, "I'm sure he is smiling from down above, knowing that all the support is here for us and the love that they're showing for him."
There will be a formal service held for Barry James next Saturday at noon at West Valley Junior High.
