Strong Wind Downs Tree Limbs, Sends Debris Flying

Windy Day

Windy Day

A wind storm has moved into southeastern Washington and northern Oregon leading to power outages and plenty of debris flying around.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for Yakima, the Lower Valley, the Mid-Columbia, Walla Walla and Northeastern Oregon for Wednesday.

Winds were steady between 35 and 45 miles per hour with gusts of up to 60 MPH.

People in the Tri-Cities were trying to deal with the wind as best they could:

Mary Garcia, Pasco: "You walk in with the sand in your teeth and in your hair."

Jodie Britton, Pasco: "I was gonna have my daughter walk home, but I felt kind of guilty having her do that in the wind, so I came to pick her up."

There were reports of power outages in Kennewick, Prosser, Grandview and Hanford, but none of the outages lasted any longer than a couple of hours.

The wind is expected to die down by the end of the night.
