Winter Storm Causes Early Worker Release at Hanford Site

Due to the current conditions and forecast, nonessential Hanford employees (employees not needed for minimum safe operations) will be released from work early today.  Only essential employees are to remain at work through the remainder of the shift.  Employees are advised to drive slowly and use extreme caution.  Roadways are extremely icy at this time.

To alleviate traffic congestion, nonessential Hanford employees are advised to please adhere to the staggered schedule below:

- 200 East Area, 12:00 p.m. (noon)

- All Areas South of the Wye Barricade, including employees working in Richland, 12:00 p.m. (noon)

- 200 West Area and 100 Areas, 12:45 p.m.

Employees must check with their manager prior to leaving and are urged to use caution and be prepared for adverse weather conditions.  Employees are also advised to monitor possible road closures, which could affect travel.

In addition, swing shift has been cancelled tonight for nonessential Hanford employees.
