Unemployment Rises Significantly Throughout Area in December

Unemployment rates rose for all local counties in December, topped by a high of 12% in Yakima County.

Here are the numbers, including the percentage of change:

Benton: 9.2% (+1.3%)

Franklin: 10.9% (+2.3%)

Kittitas: 8.5% (+1.1%)

Yakima: 12% (+2.7%)

Walla Walla 7.4% (+1.1%)
