After a lot of conjecture and stops and starts over the past several months, tomorrow the seven Tri-Cities high schools currently in the Big Nine athletic conference---along with Walla Walla and potentially Sunnyside--are expected to form a new high school league with a much tighter geographical reach.

Kennewick superintendent Dave Bond told me today that the bottom line is that the new league will cut down on missed class time for both students and staff and lessen costs via the elimination of road trips to the Wenatchee, Yakima, and Moses Lake areas.
