Grand jury indicts Pendleton man for 2010 murder
A Umatilla County Grand Jury indicts a 33 year-old Pendleton man for a muder from 2010.
Below is a statement from the Pendleton Police Department:
Shortly after midnight, July 23, 2010, Pendleton Police and EMS units were dispatched to the Pendleton Woolen Mills located at 1307 SE Court Place, Pendleton in response to a reported assault. Upon arrival, officers discovered then 46-year-old Pendleton resident Allen Anthony Spencer was suffering from multiple stab wounds. Efforts to medically stabilize Spencer were futile. Spencer died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
Over the last two years, personnel from the Pendleton Police Department, Umatilla Tribal Police Department, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office have followed up on hundreds of leads in an attempt to identify Spencer’s assailant.
Tuesday, July 17, 2012, almost two years to the date of the aforementioned murder, a Umatilla County Grand Jury indicted 33-year-old Pendleton resident Joseph Quintana Jr. for the 2010 murder of Spencer.
Although the indictment may bring family, friends and associates one-step closer to closure; law enforcement officials know that there is still a lot of work to be done…investigations are not considered complete until pleas, convictions, acquittals and/or all appeals have been ruled on by a court of jurisdiction.
