One of the hydroplanes competing in the Columbia Cup this weekend is showing the racing community that biofuel is a viable option to race with.

The Oh Boy! Oberto hydroplane ran with biofuel for part of the day today.

Biofuel is fuel from renewable plant sources, which means it can be grown by farmers and they should never run out of it.

Crew members with the Oh Boy! Oberto boat are hoping their demonstration today will inspire other crews to consider switching fuels.

"We just want to demonstrate that it's a viable fuel for the whole series. We'd love to be an all biofuel series ultimately, so we're working toward that end" said Gary Spanner, crew member.

The Oh Boy! Oberto boat is expected to test out biofuel again next weekend in Seattle.
