Richland Takes Third In 2012 State Softball
Striking fast, the Richland Bombers softball team won a well-earned third place trophy on Saturday with their 13-3 victory over the Jefferson Raiders.
The Bombers scored three in the top of the first with a two-out rally which saw Dora Hernandez, Kayla Andrews and Audrey Oleson each crossing the plate. In the top of the second, Richland would score three more runs forcing Jefferson into a pitching change from starter, Katie Jackson, to Raquelle Hale. Blowing it open further by batting around in the top of the third, the Bombers stretched their lead to 12-0. The Raiders' Katie Jackson returned to pitching for Jefferson during the inning. The key to the final outcome came by way of Caitlyn Stevens as she knocked in a run in the top of the fifth to extend the lead to ten.
Richland starting pitcher, Paige Goulet, pitched a solid game for the Bombers in the victory. Giving up just three runs in the bottom of the third, Goulet kept the Raiders off-balance throughout the game. The Bombers bring home the third place trophy to Richland.
