Shots fired call leads to suspected gang member arrest
Walla Walla Police officers responding to a shots fired call early Sunday morning arrest a suspected gang member for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of cocaine.
The call came in at 2:33 a.m. of a gunshot being heard in the area around 9th Ave. and Edith St. An officer responding to the call observed a subject running up to a vehicle parked on Highway 12, near the westbound 2nd Ave off ramp. The officer waited ahead of the vehicle until it pulled back onto the highway and then initiated a traffic stop.
Two passengers in the vehicle were found to have active arrest warrants. 27-year-old Luciano Castorena Jr. was arrested on a Department of Corrections warrant. 22-year-old Alicia Lara was taken into custody for warrants out of Douglas County and Kennewick.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a loaded semi-automatic handgun, 2 boxes of ammunition, and suspected Cocaine were found in the immediate area of where Castorena was seated.
