Two wounded veterans who are walking from Kennewick to Seattle are spending the night in Yakima tonight.

Todd Hamilton and Stuart McKenzie left on their 300 mile journey earlier this week.

They're raising awareness for veterans support services and their new non-profit called the Shadow 6 Foundation.

They say at least 18 veterans commit suicide every day, and they want to help stop that.

Hamilton says the past two days have been exhausting -- so they took today off and rested up.

"It's tough. It's mostly wet, cold, freezing. We've got our heads down with a lot of weight on our back, moving across Washington. And it's accomplishing what we want to accomplish, which is doing something extreme enough, that people start to notice what the heck's going on," said Hamilton.

Hamilton says they may have to get a ride over Snoqualmie Pass, rather than risking their lives in the snow.

They plan to arrive in Seattle next Tuesday.
