The Yakima Valley Community Foundation is announces grants totaling $1.6 million to nonprofit organizations in Yakima and Kittitas counties.

Twenty-five grants awarded in this years competitive grant cycle ranged in amounts from $3,500 to $25,000 and averaged $15,000.

Grants are awarded in six areas of focus: Arts and Culture; Basic Needs; Education; Environment and Animals; Health and Wellness; and Neighborhoods and Communities.

Additional grants were made in furtherance of the Foundation’s continuing collaborative work with its strategic partners, United Way of Central Washington, Safe Yakima Valley, One Voice for Higher Education, (Yakima Valley Community College and Heritage University) and the Davis Educational Fund, (Yakima Rotary Trust).

The source of funding for all grants comes primarily from the founding endowment for the Community Foundation (“Founders Fund”) which was funded by Yakima Regional Medical Center and the Sisters of Providence when the Community Foundation was formed in 2004, Donor Advised Funds and, for scholarships, the Davis Educational Fund.
