Red Kettle Campaign Begins
A miniature horse helps kick off a fundraising event in Yakima today.
People gathered to meet Marley the horse at wray's on 56th and Summitview -- it was to mark the beginning of the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.
Shoppers are greeted at various stores by bell-ringers, and asked to donate money to the organization.
That money will be used to help fund it's local programs.
"Just reach into the pocket and give what you have the ability to give," said Captain Jack Smith, "The wonderful thing about this is everything that you do donate to the Salvation Army stays in the Yakima County. We put it to work where it's donated."
The campaign raised over 100 thousand dollars last year.
It runs from today until Christmas Eve.
