Richland School Board expected to finalize bond proposal tonight

After more than a month of discussion and debate, the Richland School Board is expected to finalize its revised bond proposal tonight.

The original bond proposal included the closure of Jefferson Elementary School so Three Rivers HomeLink could move into the space.

But after parents spoke out against the closure, the board decided to keep Jefferson open.

The board has also decided that Lewis & Clark, Marcus Whitman, and Sacajawea Elementary Schools will be replaced at a slightly smaller size than originally planned.

District leaders are now searching for an alternative site for Three Rivers HomeLink, which is outgrowing its current facility.

Tonight, board members are expected to finalize the wording of the $98 million bond proposal so it is ready to go on the February ballot.

Tonight's meeting starts at 6:30 PM.

It will be held at the district office.
