Fruit Company May Pay Large Penalty
A fruit company based out of Union Gap is facing a large penalty after failing to meet federal risk management requirements.
According to the Environmentral Protection Agency, the Olympic Fruit Company will have to pay a 33 thousand dollar penalty and upgrade its safety equipment
The EPA says the company uses more than 10 thousand pounds of ammonia, which can be fatal if someone is exposed for long enough.
The company will also have to spend an additonal 40 thousand dollars to install new ammonia sensors, and other safety devices.
