Man Trapped in Fence
A man is found tangled in a wire fence in Prosser today, injured and suffering from exposure.
It took the Benton County Sheriff's Office several hours to identify the man, and investigators still don't know how long he was stuck out in the cold.
About 11:15 this morning people walking in the area of North River Road and Webb Street in Prosser discovered the man entangled in a wire fence.
He appeared to be about 60 to 65 years old, and was incoherent. When deputies arrived they could not determine how long he'd been there, or what he was doing in the area in the first place. Sergeant Scott Hutson was one of the first to arrive. "When I arrived it looked like he had been able to pass through the fence, except his right leg, which was hung up. Maybe he tripped and ended up on the ground," says Hutson.
The man was taken by ambulance to Prosser Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for exposure. Late this afternoon he was identified. The man's family has requested his name not be released.
