The Humane Society of Central Washington comes up short in a 100 thousand dollar adoption contest.

The shelter took part in the Rachael Ray 100K Challenge earlier this year, and finished 11th overall in the nation.

However, the shelter was awarded 6 thousand dollars for meeting their adoption goals, and an additional thousand dollars for winning an adoption photo contest.

"And so now, we are looking ahead to the next challenge, and saving more lives," said Outreach Coordinator Erica Seaver-Engel, "There's more work to do, and the community got us into the challenge. We're asking them to keep supporting us."

The humane society managed save the lives of 1300animals during the contest, and over 3800 animals so far this year.
