Table Mountain Fire 70% Contained
The Table Mountain fire near Cle Elum is now 70% contained as of this morning, and crews are expecting to have that at 100% by the end of the week.
However, firefighters are worried high winds may hamper those efforts.
Forecasts called for wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour, which started this afternoon -- those winds can start up new fires outside of the containment lines.
The fire, which was caused by lightning, has forced about 160 evacuations and burned over 40 thousand acres.
A public meeting regarding the fire is planned for 6:30 tonight at Central Washington University's Student Union Recreation Center, room 202, in Ellensburg.
