Kids and parents in Pendleton are heart broken at the loss of a playground after it goes up in flames, and fire officials say the fire is suspicious.

"I can not find any direct cause at that point- still working on ruling out all accidental causes, but its still a suspicious origin," says fire marshall Tyler Nokes.

Just after midnight Saturday morning Pendelton firefighters responded to this park on the 400 block of Despain Avenue.

The fire ripped through the wooden structure destroying a community project and thousands of memories for everyone nearby.

"I have a lot of memories and I'm sure a lot of people in the community do and its very upsetting for everybody," says Matthew Bahr.

City officials are hoping to tear down the playground sometime this week, and say they are committed to rebuilding it.
