A SUV was hit by a train in Kennewick Monday evening, sending two to the hospital.

The vehicle, driven by a Pasco man, was driving down Bruneau Avenue while flaggers were guiding a moving train on nearby tracks.

A Washington State Patrol report said the driver failed to yield while crossing the tracks, and the train hit the Ford Explorer.

Two passengers inside the vehicle were taken the Kennewick General Hospital immediately following the accident for injuries.

All three people inside the SUV were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

Washington State Patrol is still investigating the incident and charges are pending.
