More schools in Oregon are showing academic improvement, but many schools still have some work to do according to the state's School Report Card Ratings released today.

The 2011-2012 report cards show:

  • 31% of schools (364 out of 1155) were rated Outstanding (last year 28%)
  • 59% of schools (678 out of 1155) were rated Satisfactory (last year 64%)
  • 10% of schools (113 out of 1155) were rated In Need of Improvement (last year 8%)
  • 98 schools were not rated due to their small size or being open for less than two years.

In Pendleton, four schools received an Outstanding rating, two schools received a Satisfactory rating, and three schools were not rated.

In Hermiston, eight schools received a Satisfactory rating, and one school was not rated.

In Umatilla, two schools received a Satisfactory rating, and one school (McNary Heights Elementary School) received an In Need of Improvement rating.
