Wapato School District Takes Precaution with Modified Lockdown
The Wapato School District went into a modified lockdown this morning as a safety precaution for all students and staff.
It happened after the district received word from that Wapato Police Department that they were looking for a reported suicidal individual somewhere in town. School district officials had no reason to believe the individual was near any of the schools but decided to implement the modified lockdown as a precaution.
Under a modified lockdown classes are conducted as normal except students are not allowed outside for things like recess or PE.
The event started around 8:40 a.m. and ended around 10:45 a.m. without any incident.
