Gang Member Arrested in Connection with 2011 Murder
The Walla Walla Police Department has arrested a 20-year-old suspected gang member for his connection to the murder of another gang member in May of 2011.
Andres Solis, College Place, was arrested Sunday morning on a warrant for charges stemming from the murder of Julio Cesar Martinez.
The Walla Walla County Prosecutor charged Solis with second degree murder, felony riot and three counts of first degree assault for being a part, and encouraging, the fight that led to Martinez's death.
Joe Golden, Deputy Prosecutor, said his office wanted to wait on charging Solis because they wanted to finish the trial of Benito Gomez, the man convicted of pulling the trigger in the Martinez murder.
Solis was in court Monday morning for an initial appearance, he will be back in court in a couple of weeks for his arraignment.
His bail has been set at $250,000.
