Safeway stores raise money for breast cancer support services
Safeway stores in Richland and Kennewick are raising money for breast cancer support services in the Tri-Cities this month.
Cashiers are asking for donations at the register.
Employees have also built a breast cancer jail, where people donate their time to go behind bars until their bail amount can be raised for more donations.
Cashiers have been raising an average of $382 a day.
In total, employees have raised more than $9,000 this month.
"Supporting the communities that we're in and helping them with that is a huge part of being in that community. So helping people determine whether they have it and find the treatment that they need is what ourselves and the Tri-Cities Cancer Center are all about" said Jeff Ormberg, Richland Safeway Assistant Manager.
Workers at the Tri-Cities Safeway stores will be raising money for breast cancer support services until the end of the month.
All the money raised will go to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center.
