Attempted stabbing during alleged burglary in Yakima

A teenage boy and girl are behind bars for allegedly stealing alcohol from Wray's Thriftway Saturday morning.

Police responded to the grocery store, located on the 400 block of W. Nobhill Blvd., around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Store employees stated they observed a 15-year-old Hispanic girl walking out of the alcohol aisle concealing a bottle of alcohol in her sweatshirt.  She met up with a 17-year-old boy and attempted to leave the store with the concealed alcohol.

When confronted by a store employee the two suspects tried to push passed the employee and flee. Seeing the commotion other store employees arrived to help detain the two suspects while waiting for police.

During the struggle the female suspect produced a knife and tried to stab a store employee in the forearm. The knife never penetrated the employee’s skin and no medical attention was required.

Both suspects were charged with Robbery 1st degree and booked into Juvenile Detention.
