Arrests Made in Last Week's Pasco Drive By Shooting
Pasco police have arrested a 19 year old man and two 16 year olds following a gang related shooting last week in which a 17 year old girl was hit in the head and suffered a non-life threatening wound. Below is today's release from the Pasco PD as well as the release from the original incident.
September 7th Release:
Pasco Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the drive-by-shooting which occurred on August 30, 2012. Police have arrested two sixteen year old Pasco youths for attempted murder and drive by shooting. The third individual is 19 year old Juan Vargas of Pasco. Who was arrested out of his residence earlier this morning. He is being booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center for attempted murder and drive by shooting assaults.
The Tri-Cities regional SWAT Team was utilized to execute search warrants in the 900 Block of North Elm Street, assisting with taking suspect(s) into police custody. At this hour detectives are searching residences for further evidence concerning this incident.
August 30th release:
Pasco Police responded to a reported drive by shooting last night in the 800 Block of North Cedar Street in Pasco. Police were notified of the shooting incident at approximately 10:00 PM last night.
When officer arrived at the corner of East Parkview and Cedar streets a vehicle was observed in the middle of the street with obvious damage to the vehicles glass. A seventeen year old (female) of Pasco had been shot, while inside the vehicle, as it traveled down the street. The female victim was injured from flying glass and also had a gunshot wound to the head. The injury was not life threatening and she was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No one else was injured during the shooting.
During the course of the investigation it was learned that the female victim along with others were traveling on Cedar Street in a vehicle. When gold colored Honda was seen driving erratically up onto the victim vehicle. It was reported that the Honda had up to six younger males inside as it passed the victim vehicle. Multiple gunshots were fired from the Honda as it passed. The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound out of the neighborhood.
Police located the suspect vehicle a short time later crashed at the intersection of Parkview Blvd and Beech. The vehicle was empty and occupants had fled on foot from the scene of the crash. An extensive search for suspects was conducted but police were not able to locate any of the occupants. The vehicle has been seized and detectives are conducting a search of the vehicle for evidence today.
At this time investigators believe they incident to be gang related and they are working on identifying suspects in the shooting incident. No arrests have been made at this hour.
