CBC student wins scholarship to attend conference in Washington, D.C.
A Columbia Basin College student is preparing for a trip to Washington, D.C. after winning a national scholarship.
Racheal Calaway won an all expenses paid trip to the North American Young Generation in Nuclear conference.
She is one of four students across the country to receive the scholarship, and she is the only community college student to receive the honor.
The three day conference will focus on safety, security and the future of the nuclear industry.
"Honestly, I'm looking forward to talking to people. There's gonna be a lot of people who know a lot about the industry there, and it's gonna be really great to get their perspective and just kind of network and see what's what, and meet a lot of cool people" said Calaway.
Calaway is studying to become a radiological protection technician.
This is her third quarter at CBC.
The conference is next month.
