A consumer protection lawsuit is filed against a Richland florist who allegedly refused last month to provide flowers for a same-sex wedding.

The Attorney General's office sent a letter to Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers, requesting her to reconsider her position and sign an agreement indicating her intention to comply with Washington state laws.

Stutzman's attorney's responded yesterday saying Stuzman will challenge any state action to enforce the law.

The state filed the complaint today in Benton County Superior Court and also seeks $2,000 in fines for every violation of the law.
