Students Plant Trees A Kiwanis Park
Fourth grade students spend the morning getting their hands dirty at Kiwanis Park in Yakima.
Students from Saint Joseph Marquette School took part in planting almost a dozen trees across the park in honor of Washington state's Arbor Day.
Some of the trees planted by the ball fields will grow up to 45 feet tall, providing shade.
One student says he hopes planting the trees at Kiwanis Park will make it more appealing.
"Without the trees, it's kind of just like plain and lame," said Charles Gargus, "But with them, it may attract more visitors and people will like it a lot."
The event was put on by Pacific Power and the Yakima Area Arboretum.
