From the Pendleton Police-

1:30 p.m., April 14, 2013, Oregon State Police, Pendleton Police and Pendleton Fire & Ambulance personnel responded to the Union Pacific Railroad yard located in the 200 block of SW Goodwin Av., Pendleton concerning a report of a man lying on or near an inactive rail line.  Upon arrival, emergency responders found 22-year old Pendleton resident Ben J Windburn deceased.

1:00 p.m., April 16, 2013, an autopsy of Windburn’s body was performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Clackamas, OR.  The doctor who performed the autopsy was not willing to officially declare the cause of death until toxicology results are available, which can take as much as eight weeks.  However, the doctor did say that the medical probability is that Windburn succumbed to hypothermia…no signs of blunt force trauma; stabbing or other indicia of violence were noted.

The investigation into Windburn’s death is ongoing.  Persons having information concerning Windburn’s activities during the late evening hours of April 13 or early morning hours of April 14 are encouraged to call the Pendleton Police Department at (541) 276-4411.
