Work at Hanford's Vitrification Plant may slow down this summer due to potential furloughs for employees.

Bechtel National recently received its revised funding plan for fiscal year 2013 from the Department of Energy.

Project leaders are working to meet the new funding levels, but they say they may be forced to furlough workers for two weeks this summer.

Workers are monitoring spending levels every day to see if furloughs can be avoided.

Bechtel's project manager says employees will be notified at least 30 days before any furloughs go into effect.
