Backyard Shop Damaged by Fire in Benton City

A farmer in Benton City burning debris may be held responsible after the fire spreads to a neighbor's shop this afternoon.

Smoke could be seen for miles as firefighters say the fire destroyed the shop on the 5200 block of Corral Creek Road around 3 p.m.

The shop owner was inside his home when he heard propane tanks exploding and quickly called firefighters.

Firefighters responded within minutes and had the fire under control within a half hour.

Fire investigators say it's possible that the farmer burning debris briefly left the fire unattended.
