Former Yakima Mayor Dies
One of Yakima's longest serving city council members passes away this week.
Former Yakima resident Hhenry Beauchamp died Wednesday at a Seattle nursing home, he was 79 years old.
Beauchamp served over 24 years on the Yakima City Council, including one term as mayor.
One of Beauchamp's longtime friends and former Yakima Mayor, Lynn Buchanan, says Beauchamp's heavy involvement with the community made him stand out from previous mayors.
"Some people would kind of shoot from the hip and come up with whatever their mayoral decision was," said Buchanan, "But Henry was a man that listened to an awful lot of people and tried to do the right thing."
Beauchamp is survived by his wife Wilma and their three children.
