Police Discover Apparent Bomb in Yakima Neighborhood
Police are investigating a series of explosions that took place in a Yakima neighborhood last night.
Investigators tell us the explosive devices used are powerful enough to potentially kill someone if they were close enough.
Police say it happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of West Chestnut Avenue.
The first device that went off set a bush on fire.
After checking the area, police found a device "similar in nature to the residue of the blast that caused the fire."
Police describe the device as a small plastic water bottle, wrapped in electrical tape and bubble wrap.
People living in the area were evacuated, while explosive experts from the Tri-cities and Walla Walla were called in to help remove it.
Police say if anyone finds something similar to the devices, don't touch it, and dial 911.
