Umatilla County Hiring Freeze Lifted
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) -- It just got a little easier to get a job with Umatilla County. The county's Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 Wednesday to end a hiring freeze that took effect two years ago.
Under the freeze, the board had to approve the hiring of any new employee. Ending the freeze means department heads can make hiring decisions without board consent.
Board Chairman Larry Givens told the East Oregonian newspaper the county will not start hiring "willy-nilly," but ending the freeze will speed the hiring process.
