Craigen Faces New Charges
A man accused of killing his neighbor in Milton-Freewater in 2011 faces an additional charge today, after investigators say they found him in possession of a shank in the Umatilla County Jail.
George West Craigen is being held in the jail after being charged with murder in the death of 58-year-old Rob Carter.
Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus, says last week, jail staff found a shank in Craigen's possession - as a result, he has been charged with supplying contraband.
Late last week, Craigen pleaded guilty to two unrelated felon in possession of a firearm cases against him.
Those cases are from May 2011 - before Carter's death.
Attorneys are recommending Craigen be sentenced to two years in prison in exchange for the guilty pleas.
He will be sentenced Wednesday.
However, Craigen will remain in the Umatilla County Jail until the murder charge against him is resolved.
