Possible Moratorium on Marijuana Related Business in Pasco
The Pasco City Council is expected to vote on a possible moratorium on producing, processing and selling legalized recreational marijuana within city limits on September 3rd.
The council discussed the issue in a workshop last night.
According to City Community and Development Director Rick White, because the state of Washington and the federal government have two differnt laws when it comes to marijuana related business, the city does not want to license anything that is federally illegal.
White said the city hopes that with more time, it can get clarification from the federal government along with a better understanding of the rules that are yet to be set.
White said if the public disagrees with the councils decision, residents can file an intitiative to repeal the moratorium.
