Shooting on I-84 leaves man dead and OSP trooper injured
Shots are fired and an Oregon State Police trooper is hurt and another driver is dead, after a traffic stop along Interstate 84 yesterday.
OSP troopers say the driver of the vehicle got out of his car and shot the trooper as the trooper was approaching his car.
That trooper, a 26-year-old and a five-year veteran of the force, returned fire and radioed for help.
Responding officers found the suspect's vehicle about a half-mile away from the scene on the shoulder.
The driver was dead.
Three children were found safe in the suspect's vehicle.
They are being interviewed.
The trooper was shot in his side and is now recovering at home.
