Early Morning Shooting Injures One

The Yakima Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting.

Shortly before 2 a.m., police responded to a report of someone firing gunshots in the parking lot of a business in the 400 block of South 48th Avenue.

Officers found bullet casings, but no victims at the location.

A nearby residence was also struck, but there were no injuries.

Several minutes later, a victim with a gunshot wound to his arm and leg showed up at the hospital.

The 24-year-old man told police he was walking with a friend in the area of 47th Avenue north of Tieton when he heard gunshots, then realized he had been shot.

The victim said he did not see anyone shooting at him.

His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Police say there are no suspects at this time.
