Burglary Suspect Caught In the Act

From the Kennewick Police-

On December 16, 2013 at 0123 hours Kennewick Police officers responded to a theft in progress at 1425 E. 3rd Avenue.  The owner of the business reported to SECOMM that he was watching a male steal items from behind the business via a video security system.  He had recently been a victim to a burglary so over the weekend he installed a camera system that he could watch remotely from home.  When the system activated early this morning, he was able to see the burglar on video in real time and called 911.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted Kyle Trapp as he was attempting to dismantle electrical equipment.  Trapp was arrested and booked into the Benton County Jail for theft 1st degree and an outstanding DOC felony warrant.

Trapp had already loaded approximately $18,000 in metal materials into his vehicle before police arrived.

It is unknown at this time if Trapp is related to any of our recent string of burglaries.  Investigators are working this case today to determine if we can link him to other crimes.
