Mail scams demand cash for free posters
A number of scams are making their way to businesses and residents through the mail and over the phone.
One coming via mail to businesses and self-employed people demanding payments of $200 dollars or more regarding workplace safety and labor law posters.
The notices warn businesses and residents to pay up or face government fines and audits and list several posters required to be visible at a place of work and include a "final notice" tag.
The Department of Labor and Industries confirms the notice is a scam.
The department’s release said that while some posters are required at certain job sites, they are available for free at posters.lni.wa.gov. Required federal labor law and workplace safety posters are available for free at www.dol.gov/compliance/topics/posters.htm.
